Craft show blues

I almost forgot! The craft show I worked hard for recently went okay, but not as well as I had hoped.  It was a slow day and there were a lot of lookyloos.  I did make a little profit though, so the day wasn’t a total loss.  The big seller was my tooth fairy pillows.  People loved them!  They are a pretty fun idea.  They have a ribbon to hang them on the bedroom door so that the tooth isn’t hidden under the pillow and is more easily found.  I will be making more for the next show coming up at the end of April. I hope they sell just as well at this next one.  It will be at a library, so I want to make a bunch of bookmarks as well.  Those should hopefully sell there.  The up side of not selling too much at this last show is that I had a lot of stuff to add at the consignment shop where I have a nice big shelving unit with my stuff in it.  With Easter coming up, I’m hoping that people buy a lot of the stuffed animals I made for in baskets.  We shall see.

I do admit that I am disappointed with how the last show went, but my hubby is one of my biggest supporters and was like, look, there are a few more shows coming up.  It really warms my heart that he is so supportive of me and my hobby.

So time to shake off the lack of success from the last show and look forward to the next.  You have to think positive.  Happy Crafting!

Craft Show Jitters

My next craft show is this coming Saturday. I have so many crocheted projects that just need to be sewn together or finished in some way. I’m starting to get nervous and scared that I won’t get it all done. Yet I am putting off getting up out of bed and starting my day. I have an almost 3 year old to run after all day, an 11 year old at school and my hubby doesn’t have a day off until Friday. I’m sure that I will get enough done and ready for the show, but I always work myself up and worry that I’ll never make it. This bed feels so cozy and the blankets are so warm. And my son is still asleep.

Maybe just a few more minutes…

Letters A & B

Got my first two animals done today.
A is for Alligator and B is for Butterfly.

Can’t wait to make something nice for my little man 🙂

Happy crafting everyone 🙂

Alphabet appliqué

I love crocheting and don’t write about it enough. I made a monkey for my son not too long ago and he seems to like it 🙂 lol I say seems to because he’s a boy and is rougher on his toys than my daughter was.
A few days ago, I saw on a page I like on Facebook where a crafter I like is doing an alphabet of animal appliqué for a blanket she is making. She is sharing the animals one day at a time and in alphabetical order. I am going to try and crochet along and either make a little book for my son with the animals or a blanket for him with them. We shall see. 🙂
If you would like to check out the page, her crochet page is Repeat Crafter Me. https://www.facebook.com/RepeatCrafterMe
She has amazing patterns and items and is so talented!
I will try to post animals as I get them done.
If only there were more hours in the day so we could accomplish more things. Lol
Have a crafty day everyone!!

Through richer or poorer…

So about two weeks ago, my fiancé got put on an indefinite suspension from work.  He runs a lamination machine and his scissors accidentally went through his machine and ruined belts and liner mats in the machine.  The up side is that they value him because they didn’t fire him right away like the last guy who did that, the down side is that it has been two weeks and he hasn’t heard anything yet about any decisions they are going to make.  It really sucks, but he needs to find a new job anyways.  They don’t appreciate him there and he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves and they don’t give raises very often.  There really isn’t much room for advancement either.  He needs a job that he can go to and know he is secure and appreciated.  I know that is hard to find in this economy, but there are still jobs out there like that.

One perk from this happening though is that we are getting to spend a lot more time together.  I missed him so much because his job was a 12 1/2 hour day, a weird shift rotation through the week, and he slept most of the time he was off to catch up on his sleep.  Our son is loving the fact that he gets to see daddy more often and play with him.  Our daughter is on the fence though, I think, because she doesn’t get away with a whole lot anymore. hahaha

I wish I could say that I had a great crochet business that sold a lot of items to help make up for the loss of money, but alas, it didn’t catch on like I had hoped.  People just don’t want to pay for handmade items anymore.  They want the handmade, but they don’t want to accept the fact that someone put a lot of time and energy into making it.  It’s sad, really.

I did make some dolls for two little girls for their birthday, and they loved them 🙂  I made Merida and Snow White. I have attached photos of them.  They turned out so cute.  I have a Belle lovey doll for a little 1 year old that needs a little more hair put in her head as well.  My gram thinks I should make up a bunch of little dolls and have to take to a craft show and see how they sell.  My fiancé’s father’s girlfriend is willing to get me some business cards made up too.  I love to crochet, and I really wish that I could get some people to buy things.  Even if it is only for a little while.  The extra money would even help for the wedding we have coming up this September.

The wedding planning is coming along so well, knock on wood.  We have gotten pretty much everything major we need taken care of.  Now it’s just the little things that we need to get.  I’m really looking forward to my bridal shower and bachelorette party.  My fiancé and I don’t drink, he is a recovering alcoholic, and we will be having a dry wedding.  For my bachelorette party, we are hopefully going to go to Laser Floyd!! 🙂 I am really looking forward to that, even though it sounds dorky.  I’m a little dorky, so it’s ok.  Hahaha 🙂

Well, my little one will be waking from his nap soon, so I guess I should sign off for the day….later all!

Babies, blankets and beanies, oh my!

Well, it has been way too long since my last post.  I apologize for that.  It has been busy around my house.  We have a new addition to our family, our son John Edward.  He was born April 19th. 🙂  He is the most handsome little man I’ve ever seen. 🙂

I’ve completed two crocodile stitch baby blankets.

And I have made a few little beanies for my little man.  🙂  I’m working on some items for a giveaway for one of my friends who owns her own photography business.  Can’t wait to finish these items for her and get my name out there some more.  🙂  If you would like to check her out or even see my giveaway items when they are finished and posted tomorrow, her facebook page is Cole Pix Photography.  She does amazing work.  We just took John over and got his baby pictures taken.  Can’t wait to see how they turned out 🙂

Well,  back to my hooks! Have a great day everyone!

June :)

I can’t believe it’s already June! I am trying to quickly finish some camo squares for a square swap that was to be mailed in on the 30th of May, yet I got an extension until the 7th of June.  I still have 24 more blocks to go! But I have time tonight and tomorrow to work on them, so hopefully I can get them done and in the mail by the end of the week 🙂

I’m still steadily working on the squares for the blanket i’m making my mother as well.  They are coming along nicely and just need the last color around them.  Then I think I will sew in loose ends before I connect them. Hopefully saving myself some time at the end. We shall see.

Only 7 more days until my 27th birthday, yet I only feel as if I am turning 20 or so. 🙂  In some ways that is a good thing, in others,  not so much. lol   I just wish I could have better luck with finding some web design work.  Hopefully sometime soon I will get a good lead.

Well, off to check on the lasagna I have in the oven. 🙂 Hope you all have a wonderful day! ❤
