Crochet Books!!!

I ordered 3 new crochet books this past week.  The wonderful mail lady brought them to my door today 🙂

Books:

1. Learn to do Bavarian Crochet   ~ Can’t wait to use this as I really want to make one of these blankets.  This book also has 9 different patterns that look very cool. 🙂

2. Beyond The Square Crochet Motifs  ~ This book has 144 patterns for different shaped motifs.  I will DEFINITELY be using this as I am in different square swaps and love making blankets.

3. Around The Corner Crochet Borders  ~ This book has 150 different crochet edgings and charts and instructions on creating beautiful borders for blankets.  🙂 This will come in handy for all the blankets I will be making with my new motif book 🙂

For this “hooker”, it is a good day.  So many patterns, so much yarn, too little time to actually use them as much as i’d like. lol  Someday.

A finished doily

*Dun da da da!*  hehe  The doily, she is done. 🙂 And she is beautiful.

Vintage Pineapple Doily

I’m so happy with how it turned out. I still think that they look more like strawberries than pineapples, but whatever 🙂 lol  This has given me the doily bug and I so want to find other small doily patterns so that I can use up the other pretty colors I have of crochet thread.  But I need to get my swap squares done first.  Maybe I will start on those today, in between some laundry and dishes.

I hope that  my mom will like this doily, as I have made it for her.  She has been trying to find a doily for a new end stand that she bought but hasn’t found any nice ones or ones that aren’t uber expensive or too big to even fit the small end stand.  I think this will look perfect on the pretty dark wood. 🙂  Well, off to do something productive.
Happy Hooking!

Granny Squares and Doilies

So I am in the midst of two square swaps, making a blanket for my mom for mother’s day ( i’m giving her gifts to her later because of family health issues) and I am finishing up a doily I started making today because I wanted to see how hard/easy they really were.  I have always wanted to make one and I have had this crochet thread sitting around for a few months so I figured, what the heck.

Just regular cotton thread.

using green and white for the doily.

The pattern is a Vintage Crochet Pineapple Doily.  The pattern can be found here: http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Crochet/Projects/HomeDec/WC1717+Vintage+Crochet+Pineapple+Doily.htm or on the red heart website.

After a few initial hiccups and frogs because I have never tried to crochet a doily before, I have come to the conclusion that I like making them. Aside from the small, itty bitty hook, they are rather simple to make and I don’t know why I was so afraid to try and make one before. 🙂 Will post final pictures of it when I am finished.

The other squares will come in a future blog, so you have something to look forward to 🙂 😉

Happy Hooking!
